Essilor® Stellest™ lenses

The myopia control spectacle lens is the culmination of more than 30 years of academic studies, product design, rigorous research efforts and collaboration between the top research institutes, myopia experts and research development teams.

The Stellest lens provides myopia correction and sharp vision through a single vision clear zone in the centre of the lens. It provides myopia control through the H.A.L.T. technology which consists of a constellation of aspherical lenslets spread on 11 rings.  The effect of this design is the slowing of the elongation of the eye in myopic children. The power of each ring has been ingeniously determined to ensure light is focussed in front of the retina following the shape of the eye to achieve consistent myopia slowdown.

Myopia control lenses slow down myopia progression by 67% on average, compared to single vision lenses, when worn 12 hours a day.

A clinical trial in 2019 showed that after the first year, the eye growth of 9 out of 10 children wearing Essilor Stellest lenses was similar or slower than non-myopic children. Moreover, 2 out of 3 children who wore myopia control lenses have had a stable need in vision correction after the first year.

Hoya® MiYOSMART™ lenses

MiYOSMART is an innovative spectacle lens developed by Hoya using an award-winning D.I.M.S (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology to slow the progression of myopia. The 2-year clinical trial results show that MiYOSMART lenses slow myopia progression by up to 60%.

MiYOSMART lenses use revolutionary D.I.M.S. Technology to enable clear vision in the same way as a conventional spectacle lens, but with a treatment zone on the lens surface that consists of hundreds of small segments that provide an additional correction. It is this additional correction that aims to impact the progression of myopia. Whilst the MiYOSMART lenses are being worn, you will see clearly but also the growth of your eyes (and therefore the level of their short-sightedness) will be being managed by the D.I.M.S technology.

MiYOSMART lenses are an ideal alternative for myopic people not keen on the idea of contact lenses for myopia control. MiYOSMART lenses can be used either alone or in conjunction with the MiSight contact lenses. As children are active, there is a need for the lens material to be impact-resistant to offer their eyes the protection they need. MiYOSMART lenses are made from polycarbonate, which is a light, thin highly impact-resistant material and comes with an anti-reflection and scratch-resistant coating as standard.
